When I started building websites in 2006, I had no idea what SEO stood for. I just knew I loved creating something useful and beautiful for the people I was trying to help.
My first website was built using Apple’s iWeb. I was doing nonprofit work at the time, and I needed a simple place to share what we were doing. From there, I kept designing websites for causes I cared about, for organizations I worked with, and eventually for small businesses. I knew design and content were important, but I had this nagging sense that if I understood SEO, I could be helping people much more.
Still, SEO seemed complicated. I assumed I’d need a certification or technical training. That changed when I joined Emily Journey & Associates.
I started learning SEO hands-on. I discovered that it’s not just about algorithms, it’s about how people search for answers and how a website can give them what they want. With the right strategy, structure, and language, you can help the right people find you.
I am a former university Spanish teacher with a background in Spanish linguistics. Once I began to think about SEO like a language with rules and systems, it all began to click. Just like you use language to communicate, SEO is a tool to communicate to the world about the goods and services a business or organization provides to improve the world.
Today, I lead SEO Training for clients across industries. I also teach business owners and in-house teams how to use SEO in connection with their website to get found online.
There is nothing like the look in someone’s eyes when they realize…it’s really that simple?
Below are some next steps to learn how to get the training you need to grow your online visibility. We look forward to talking to you soon.
