Suzy Mitchell is a marketing professional with more than 25 years of experience in brand management, digital marketing, product promotion, and SEO. She manages marketing and lead generation for Emily Journey & Associates, focusing on improving search visibility through SEO and generative engine optimization (GEO).
What I love most about marketing is that it never stands still.
There’s always something new to learn, a different problem to solve, or a fresh opportunity hiding in the data. One day you’re writing a blog post, the next you’re analyzing search trends, optimizing a webpage with schema, or testing a new idea that might bring the right people to a business.
That variety is what drew me to marketing more than twenty-five years ago—and it’s what keeps me energized today.
Over the course of my career, I’ve worked on both the agency and client side across brand management, promotions, product launches, digital marketing, analytics, PR, and event management. I’ve overseen the creation of websites for the brands I managed and spent years helping organizations communicate more clearly with their audiences.
My work with websites and content naturally led me deeper into SEO.
I began focusing more seriously on search in 2020 and was fascinated by how websites and content can be structured so the right people can find them. Over time, I’ve developed a strong understanding of how content, website structure, and search behavior work together to improve visibility and drive meaningful traffic.
There’s something incredibly satisfying about optimizing a page, monitoring it in Google Search Console, and watching impressions and clicks grow as the strategy starts to work.
I joined Emily Journey & Associates in 2022 after applying for a role on LinkedIn. Emily called me less than five minutes after I hit submit, and it quickly became clear this was a team I wanted to be part of. I saw that they care deeply about helping businesses understand their websites and grow their visibility online.
Today, I manage marketing for the company, focusing on lead generation, SEO, generative engine optimization (GEO), content strategy, and website management. Much of my work happens in WordPress and Google Search Console, where I’m constantly looking for opportunities to improve how our website performs and how people discover it through search engines and AI tools.
One of the things I’m most proud of is being part of a team that helps demystify SEO. Instead of making it feel technical or intimidating, we focus on helping people understand how it works and how they can use it to grow their businesses.
Outside of work, I’m a dog mom to three pups and a martial artist proficient in mixed martial arts. I also enjoy reading and gardening—two of my favorite ways to slow down and recharge.
And like marketing itself, I’m always learning something new.
